Johnie was indeed "The Rock" of amateur radio public events. Regardless of the event, or who the coordinator was - Johnie was the one that kept everyone straight. He served everyone selfishly.

Without any effort, Johnie was a role model. His calm and well reasoned demeanor simply brought calm to any situation.

A sly wit and a good heart lit whatever space he walked into. I will miss you, and will cherish your example.

73 Old Friend,

Susie, Daughters and family I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how devastating this must be. When someone has been ill their death is not such a shock, but as far as I know you had no reason to suspect such a tragedy. I am glad Daisy is there with you for support. I am unable to attend the service but my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Love you
