LIGHTFOOT Linda Smith left this world unexpectedly on November 27th, 2013, after a prolonged illness. She was born in the District of Columbia, the daughter of Russell Adams Smith and Margaret Ouida Fay of Bethesda, Maryland and Christiansburg, Virginia. Linda earned a BS Degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. In 1960 she married Robert W. Lightfoot, Jr, M.D. who survives her. She is also survived by her children, Mark Adams Lightfoot of Lexington and Kirsten Lightfoot Luenz of Overland Park Kansas, as well as her sisters, Margaret Sears of Potomac, Maryland and Phyllis McLeod of Leesburg, Virginia. Also surviving her are three grandsons and a granddaughter. Since arriving in Lexington 26 years ago, Linda had been very active in the Ronald McDonald House in Lexington, serving on its Board ultimately serving as President of the Board, and as a Life Member of that Board. She was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, a member of the Junior League of Bergen County New Jersey, and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Milwaukee. While in Milwaukee before coming to Kentucky she served as an American Heart Association certified instructor trainer in CPR in a project of the Junior League. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Friday, November 29th at Kerr Brothers Funeral on Harrodsburg Road, services will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Lexington, 171 Market Street at 2pm on Saturday, November 30th. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory should be sent to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass.

So sorry to hear of Linda's passing. She was so gentle and calm. I know the last few years were difficult for both of you. We were so excited to hear of your plans to come to the meeting in Asheville. We will miss her. love, Rena and Rich.

I am so sad to hear this news. Linda was a wonderful light in my life during my time in Lexington. Her warmth, compassion, intellect, insight, and friendship were inspirational to me and I will never forget her.

We were so sorry to hear of Linda's death. I remember all the fun times we had at swim meets. She was a great lady.
