Oakes, Cynthia - Winchester  
WINCHESTER - Cynthia Ann Oakes, 61, of Clark County, fianc‚e of Gregg Kearns, passed away Wednesday at the Baptist Health Hospital. A native of London, KY, she was born November 30, 1953, to Elizabeth H. Oakes and the late Judson E. Oakes, Sr. Cindy retired after 30 years as a US district court reporter, and served on the Board of Directors of the Boonesboro Boat Club. Cindy is survived by two brothers, Judson E. Oakes, Jr., of Clark County and Gary W. Oakes of Nashville, TN, nephew, Thomas Judson Oakes and his wife Diana Oakes. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 - 4pm at the Rolan Taylor Funeral Home in Winchester, 289 S. Main Street, with a celebration of life service at 2pm for family and friends who wish to recollect their memories of Cindy. Overman, Michael - Lexington  
OVERMAN Michael T., 40, Columbia, South Carolina, formerly of Lexington, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Born in Lexington to Timothy L. and Sue Bailey Overman of Lexington, he was a 1992 graduate of Lafayette High School, a 1998 graduate of the University of Kentucky with Bachelor's degrees in English and Philosophy and obtained a Master's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the English department of the University of South Carolina. Mr. Overman liked to play and listen to music and played in bands in Lexington and South Carolina. At the time of his death, he was an Instructor and Coordinator for the Pedagogical Technology in the English Programs for Internationals at the University of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Arch and Elizabeth Bailey, and paternal grandparents, John W. and Madeline Overman. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Amanda L. Bowman; a daughter, Kalina "Kali" Bowman; a brother, David L. Overman, Lexington and a nephew, John Overman, Lexington. A memorial service will be held 2pm Wednesday at Ware Funeral Home with visitation at 1pm. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. OVERMAN Michael T., 40, of Columbia, SC, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Born in Lexington, KY, he was a son of Timothy L. Overman and Sue Bailey Overman. Michael was a 1992 graduate of Lafayette High School and a 1998 graduate of the University of Kentucky with Bachelor degrees in English and Philosophy. He obtained a Master's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the English department of the University of South Carolina. Michael liked to listen to and play music. He was in bands in Lexington, KY, and Columbia, SC. At the time of his death, he was an instructor in the English Program for Internationals and Coordinator for Pedagogical Technology at the University of South Carolina. Surviving are his wife, Amanda L. Bowman; daughter, Kalina "Kali" Bowman; his parents; brother, David L. Overman; and nephew, John Overman all of Lexington, KY. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, John Arch and Elizabeth Bailey, and paternal grandparents, John W. and Madeline Overman. A Mass of Christian burial for Michael will be held at 11am Saturday, January 24, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8pm Friday, January 23, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia, SC. A memorial service will be held in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana, KY, at a future date.
