Beeler, C. Alan - Richmond  
RICHMOND - Dr. C. Alan Beeler, 77, passed away on Thu, April 28, 2016, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond. Dr. Beeler was born on Feb 10, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Eleanor and Charles Beeler. He completed his graduate study in theory and composition at Washington University in St. Louis, where he received an M.A. (1965) and Ph.D. (1973). Beeler has taught music theory, composition, and oboe at Wisconsin State University at Stevens Point (1967-1970) and Eastern Kentucky University (1970-2007), where he was Professor of Music Theory and Composition. His many compositions include works for solo piano, chorus, chamber ensemble, string orchestra, full orchestra, and voice many of which have been recorded by Parma Records. Some of his recordings include Alan Beeler: Quintessence, The Real Beeler and The Vocal Music of Alan Beeler, a new release scheduled for July 2016. He is survived by: his sister Dr. Ann Geers, her husband John Geers, and his nephews Benjamin and Eric Geers. He has touched so many of us with his knowledge, humor, music and kindness. His gentle soul will be missed. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, Richmond, is in charge of the arrangements. www.cpcfh.com
