GEORGETOWN - Dr. Bonita Susan Quarles, 60, devoted wife of Roger F. Quarles died Friday, March 29, 2013 ending a most courageous cancer battle. She was a farmer and educator. Daughter of the late Van and Emily Elliott. Survived by beloved sons Clinton Roger Quarles (Jackie) and Ryan Francis Quarles and her dearest grandson, Garrett. Siblings include Erma (Phil) Sarcione, Barbara O'Moore, Van (Diane) Elliott, Don (Brenda) Elliott all in Northern Kentucky and David Elliott in Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Following her wishes, our immediate family celebrated her life in a most private service this past Monday morning. Burial was in a family plot in Georgetown Cemetery. Bonita graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. & M.S. in Nursing and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology as well as a degree in Gerontology. She retired from teaching nursing at Kentucky State University after 28 years of service, leaving behind her dear friends and colleagues at KSU. Bonita was truly devoted to her family foremost with other passions for her antique furniture, her flower gardens, farm activities, gentle summer rains on her crops and her travel adventures with Roger over the past 41 years-to six continents. The island vacations were always memorable. The family gives thanks to all of her medical providers, especially Dr. Ueland at the Markey Cancer Center. We appreciate all of the flowers, cards and prayers over the past seven years. Memorial contributions are suggested to Scott Co. 4-H and Scott Co. FFA programs at the Scott County Extension Office, 1130 Cincinnati Road, Georgetown, KY 40324.
