STAMPING GROUND - Coleman Johnson, 84, husband to Henry Etta Gardner Johnson, passed away, Saturday, November 9, 2013. He was born to the late James and Gertrude Carter Johnson on June 10, 1929 in Scott County, Kentucky. He was a graduate of 1948 Stamping Ground High School, a former Stock Clerk at Schilling Distillery in Frankfort, a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in German, a member of Scott Lodge #702 in Stamping Ground, Kentucky, a former member of The American Legion, a member of Stamping Ground Baptist Church and attended Stamping Ground Christian Church. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Larry Coleman Johnson (Christy) and Clemmie Swigert (Clint), both of Owenton, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kaitlin Sword (Jacob) of Lexington, Christina Johnson, Katherine Johnson, both of Owenton; step grandchildren, Matthew Edwards (Christina) of Covington, Elizabeth Edwards of Taylor Mill, Noah Reilly of Owenton; step great grandchild, Mason Edwards; sister, Ella Webster of LaGrange and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2pm, Tuesday, November 12 at Stamping Ground Christian Church with Rev. Bruce Breeding officiating. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery with Ben Calvert, Wayne Robey, Wallace Wilson, Johnny Vickers, Billy Dalzell, Donald Towles, Jerry Lynn and Larry Cassity as pallbearers. Honorary bearers are John Robey, Julian Singer, Jack Lancaster, John Bratton, J.W. Reynolds, Bill Stevens, Wayne Murphy, Paul Tackett and Ewell Riddle. Visitation will be Monday, November 11 from 5-9pm at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home and from 1-2pm at the church before the service.
