SALLEE Donald Ray, 76, husband of 54 years to Frances Matherly Sallee, died Mon. July 22, 2013. Born in Harrodsburg, KY on March 2, 1937, to the late Rue Sallee and Rilda Elizabeth Slone Sallee. Mr. Sallee graduated from Harrodsburg High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He served in the United States Marine Corp 1956-1958 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Albany, GA. He was assigned to the Military Police and discharged with rank of Corporal. Mr. Sallee served with the Lexington Fayette County Police Department 1960-1987 and retired as Sergeant. During his 27 years with the Department, he served in the following divisions: K-9, Detective, Detention Center, Warrant Services, Case Review, Communications and Patrol. He was a former real estate broker, residential builder, and a Certified Kentucky Builiding Code Inspector. For many years he coached Cardinal Valley Little League and Turfland Babe Ruth baseball. Mr. Sallee is a Commissioned Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Baptist Church, and a member of Fraternal Order of Police Bluegrass Lodge #4. Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Sallee Baxter (Martin Stewart); and a son, Phillip Brent Sallee; five grandchildren, Ashley Nichole Sallee, Justin Tyler Baxter, Katie Elizabeth Baxter, Brenttney Rhea Sallee, and Emily Grace Sallee; one great grandchild, Kylee Nicole Sallee; three brothers, Howard Thomas Sallee (late wife Joyce), Danny Dale Sallee (wife Debbie) and Michael Lee Sallee (wife Laurie); and several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Funeral services will be 12:30pm Sat at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Pastor Paul Richardson. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be 9:30am-12:30pm Sat at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Harrodsburg Historical Society, P.O.
