Eugene Walter Obituary
WALTER Eugene, 90, retired Avionics Supervisor, at the Blue Grass Army Depot, real estate broker and investor, a native of Hazel Green, Kentucky, passed away October 24, at his home in Lexington. He was born September 17, 1923, the son of the late Franklin and Clara Nickell Walter, of Hazel Green. He served in World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy, a gunner on anti-submarine patrol. At the start of WWII he worked at Wright Aeronautical in the Cincinnati area; following the war he attended Vocational School and worked for Woodland Radio in Lexington. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Masonic Grand Lodge of Kentucky No. 1, F. & A.M., Oleika Shrine Temple, and a founding member of the Gardenside Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol N. Walter, five brothers, Ova Walter, Graden Walter, Andy Walter, Ralph Walter and Carl Walter, and two sisters, Lingle Nickell and Nova Karnes. Survivors include a sister, Frances Long, two daughters, Kimberly Czirr (Philip) and Sheila Foy, grandchildren Carol Foy and Samuel Foy, Gabriel Czirr (Jessica) and Zachary Czirr (Ashley) and great grandchild Walker Czirr, all from Lexington, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of friends including a "Special Friend" and former wife, Anna F. Walter, with whom they were a real estate team. Visitation will be 12pm Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral home in West Liberty, KY, with the Masonic Rites conducted by Highland Lodge #311 at 1pm, funeral service at 1:30pm. Burial with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Morgan County D.A.V. Chapter 132, to follow in the Hazel Green Cemetery in Hazel Green, KY. Pallbearers are Ralph Walter Jr., Carol Foy, Samuel Foy, Phil Czirr, Gabriel Czirr and Zachary Czirr.
