Obituary Condolences

LESLIE Gail Bradford passed away on July 28, 2014 in Ft. Worth, TX of complications following a stroke. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, John D. Leslie. She is survived by her son J. Douglass (Barbara Clarke) of Washington, DC; her two daughters Eve L. Boss (Terry) of Rowlett, TX, and Jennifer Leslie of Lexington, KY; four grandchildren, Cameron (Chris) Laurent, Keene (Jenn) Rosenthal, Courtney (Brian) Johnson and Samuel Leslie; and three great granddaughters, Meredith Johnson, Claire Laurent, and Addie Laurent. Gail was born August 12, 1927 on the family ranch in Edwards County, TX to Lindsay Wheat and Maude Yett Bradford. After graduation from high school in Rocksprings, TX. She attended the University of Texas in Austin as an engineering student where she met her husband, a returning World War II veteran. After living in upstate New York for 14 years, Gail and John moved to Lexington, KY with their three children. John went to work at Spindletop Research Institute and then headed the National Area Development Institute. Gail remained active in the Methodist Church: she was the first woman to be a trustee of the First Methodist Church in the then 175 year history of that institution. Never one to leave a task unfinished Gail returned to college and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1970 with a BS in business and economics. She later added a MS in economics. After living in Washington, DC, Gail and John retired to Rockport, TX in 1986 where they were again active in the First Methodist Church. They lived on a canal in Key Allegro where Gail enjoyed jewelry design, fishing, and sailing her Sunfish on Little Bay.The funeral will be held at the First Methodist Church of Rockport, 801 E. Main Street at 10am on Tuesday, August 5. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Good Samaritans of Rockport-Fulton, TX, 507 South Ann Street, Rockport, TX 78382 or the First Methodist Church of Rockport, 801 E.
