Helen Jones Obituary
RICHMOND -Helen Maxine Jones, 85, of Richmond, Ky., passed away after a sudden illness on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Compassionate Care Center. She was born February 2, 1929 in Madison Co., Ky., the daughter of the late John B. and Bessie Parrish Jones. She was a graduate of Kirksville High School Class of 1947 and graduated from Eastern Ky. University Class of 1951. She was a retired teacher having taught Home Economics at Mid-dlesboro High School in Middlesboro, Ky., and taught English while living in Ohio for a short time. She spent most of her career serving as Librarian at Tates Creek High School in Lexington, Ky. where she retired. She was a very good, loving, caregiver to her mother before Mrs. Jones passed away. She enjoyed traveling, writing, singing, and painting. She especially enjoyed singing with the Richmond Choral Society and playing Bridge with her fellow school teachers. Helen was a member of the Kirksville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by four brothers, John O. Jones (Edna), Pierson Gentry Jones (Suda), Robert Jones (Florence), and Earl Dean Jones (Mary); two sisters, Mary Pillion Howell (Atlas) and Elizabeth Brock (Garland). Survivors include one sister, Margaret Katherine Wood (Woody), of Huntsville, AL; several nieces and nephews, Randy Jones, of Columbus, OH, Tommy Fish (Debra), of Huntsville, AL, David Howell, of Huntsville, AL, Robert Lee Jones, of Lexington, Robin Jean Turner, of Lawrenceburg, Roberta Brock Nolley (Don), of Tomball, TX, Bernice Jenkins, of Independence, KS, Earl Dean Jones, Jr., of Richmond and Patricia Shepard, of Richmond; several great-nieces and nephews who were special to her. The little ones always brought a smile to her face and a twinkle in her eyes. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1pm Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Fort officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11am Tuesday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Tommy Fish, Earl Dean Jones, Jr., Larry Wilson, Jeff Ardery, Jeff Ford, and Jimmy Whitaker. www.cpcfh.com
