GEORGETOWN - James Ernest Lavalley, born December 28, 1916 in Hoosicks Falls, New York, passed away, December 28, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Marie Veronica (Matott) Lavalley of Georgetown, Kentucky, sons, James of Dyersburg, TN, Jonathan (Linda) of Georgetown, KY, Jeffery (Barbara) of Barboursville, WV, Joel (Jean) of Murfreesboro, TN, daughters Janice (Richard) Schweitzer of Georgetown, KY, Judith (Tom) Coryell of Mound City, KS, Joy Anne (Justin) St. James of Burton, Oh, Jacqueline (Mark) Daniels of Corbin, KY, and Jillaine (Dwayne) Thomas of Madison, IN, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Lavalley (wife of deceased son, Jerome), one brother, Chester Lavalley of Plattsburgh, New York, his sister, Simone Eakins of Montreal, Quebec, his brother-in-law, Alfred (June) Matott, his sisters-in-law Margaret Matott of Rouses Point, NY, and Agatha (Hank) Racette of Peralts, NM, 33 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, many step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice and Alonzo, two sisters, Theresa Lavalley and Eva Gload, a son, Jerome Peter Lavalley, grandsons Todd and Mark Lavalley and Jeffrey Vickerstaff, granddaughters Cassandra and Rachel Lavalley, and daughter-in-law Gail (Preston) Lavalley. He served his country in the United States Navy in World War II on the USS Sutton from 1944 to 1945. He was a member of SS. Francis and John Parish in Georgetown, KY. He derived his greatest pleasure spending time with his cherished family. Memorial services will be 10am, Tuesday December 31, 2013 at St. Frances Catholic Church.
