ARMACOST John "Jack" Harold, 85, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed on May 5, 2014 at the Veterans Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born Dec. 15, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late Emma and Harold Armacost. On Nov 15, 1959, he married Norma Mae Hackney also of Cincinnati, OH. He served as a PFC in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal for his service. After his discharge, he was employed by the Senco Products Inc. for 29 years, retiring in 1992. He did volunteer work for the VA Hospital Center in Lexington, KY and was very proud to have been an active member of the Lexington, KY Korean War Veterans Association: Post #341. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and John Blunt of Auburn, MA; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Brenda Armacost of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Johnny (Tonya) Leveille and Robby Leveille; and great grandchild, Nathan Leveille of Auburn, MA; brother and sister-n-law, Robert and Lois Armacost of Cincinnati, OH; several nieces and nephews; and an extended family. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Kennedy and Dorothy Scheffer. Visitation will be held 10-11:30am Wed at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, KY. A graveside service and inurnment will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made for the Korean War Memorial, c/o KWVA Post 341, 1493 Leestown Rd., Lexington, KY 40511.
