PRATT John Charles, 90, died peacefully at Lexington Country Place on October 24, 2013. He was born in Duluth, MN on April 10, 1923, to the late Henry and Olive Pratt. He was retired from Good Samaritan Hospital having served as Administrator from 1962 to 1985. John graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Masters in Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota. He served as Chairman of the Kentucky Hospital Association, was a Life Fellow of the American College of Health-care Executives, recipient of the Award of Merit and Distinguished Service Award of the Kentucky Hospital Association. He was a US Navy Veteran and active member of First United Methodist Church, the Civil War Roundtable, Lexington Rotary Club and Lexington Country Club. John enjoyed woodworking, golf, gardening and spending time with friends and family. He was a loving husband to the late Dorothy Fesler Pratt and Nancy Palmer Pratt. Survivors include his children, Janie (Tack) Cornelius, Rick (Holly Ann) Pratt, David (Cindy) Pratt, Mel Blakeman and Carolyn (Jeff) Solsten. He was known as "Granddaddy" to his grandchildren, Travis, Kelly, Tara, Sara, Mackensy, Hank, Katie, Dorothy, John Ryan, Codie, Jackson and great- grandchildren, Zack and Lexie. He will be truly missed by all. Funeral services will be 11:30am Monday at Milward - Southland with burial to follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to First United Methodist Church Act One or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
