Joseph Brown Obituary
BROWN Joseph McGee, Jr., 81, died Sunday, February 23, 2014. Joseph was a lifelong native of Lexington and a retired Lieutenant of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government Division of Police. He was the son of the late Joseph M. Brown Sr. and the late Emma Katherine Lonkard Brown. His wife, Lucy Helen Lathram Brown preceded him in death. Joseph is survived by three sons and one daughter; Joseph M. Brown, III, Katherine R. Brown Ashby, Jonathan P. Brown, and David A. Brown, all of Lexington. Other surviving family members: son-in-law, Timothy B. Ashby and three daughters-in-law, Terri A. Brown, Ana C. Brown, and Sherry L. Brown. Mr. Brown graduated from Kentucky Law Enforcement training at Eastern Kentucky University and also graduated from the Institute of Applied Science, Chicago, IL. He was a member of Christ Centered Church, Lexington Lodge No.1 F&AM, Scottish Rite-Valley of Lexington, the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, the Fraternal Order of Police-Bluegrass Lodge No. 4, the Korean War Veterans Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4075, American Legion Post No. 341, and the Disabled American Veterans of America. Joseph Brown was a veteran of the United States Army who served with a Rifle Company during the Korean War; a veteran law enforcement officer and a Deputy United States Marshall of the Eastern District of Kentucky. Joe's example of strong ties to God, country, and friends will be sadly missed. Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm Tue at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Funeral services will be held 12:30pm Wed. at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will take place at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Howard officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
