SMITHSON Leslie Martin, 76, husband of Elsie Bond Smithson, died Mon, June 9, 2014 at Baptist Health Lexington. Born Dec 12, 1937 in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Alawishus and Mary Myers Smithson. Mr. Smithson was U.S. Air Force retired, served his country during the Vietnam War, and later retired as a dispatcher for the Lexington Fayette County Urban Government Police Department. He was a member of the Committee of 101, the Masonic Lodge F&AM, and the American Legion. He was a member of Calvary Free Methodist Church. Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Douglas Martin (Barbara) Smithson, Nicholasville, KY and Eric Scott Smithson, Lexington, KY; one daughter, Cynthia Marie Smithson, Ft. Wright, KY; three grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, and Blake Smithson; and a half sister, Ronda Lee Irgang, Wilmore, KY. Funeral services will be held 12noon Fri. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9pm Thu at the funeral home.
