EHMANN Nancy Gallagher was born March 29, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI and died April 20, 2014 due to complications from cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents Edwin J. and E. Adelaide Gallagher, and husband of 58 years, William D. Ehmann. A valedictorian graduate of Edgewood College, she was married on July 16, 1955. Following marriage, she was an elementary school teacher in Pittsburgh, before moving with William to Lexington, where she resided until her passing. Nancy was the past president of Lexington's Meals on Wheels for over 20 years, and a devoted community volunteer to such organizations such as the Adult Literacy Program, Cardinal Hill Hospital Auxiliary, Christ the King Rosary Club, UK Singletary Center for the Arts, and many other charitable groups. She enjoyed reading, dogs, bridge, travel, trout fishing in North Carolina, bird watching, and jigsaw puzzles until her death. She was the recipient of the Lexington Outstanding Volunteer Award, and was elected into the Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, as well as being recognized as a Kentucky Colonel. She is survived by her four children, William (Susan) Ehmann, John, Jim (Muthoni), and Kathleen (Steve) and two grandchildren, George and Alexandra. In lieu of flowers or plants, family suggests donations to The Arboretum, noted to Ehmann Fund, 500 Alumni Dr., Lexington, 40503. Services will be held at the Cathedral of Christ the King on Friday, April 25. Visitation begins at the Cathedral at 10am, followed by mass at 11am, burial at Calvary.
