WILMORE - Paul J. Berke, 89, widower of Helen Berke, died Dec 31, 2012 at his home in Wesley Village. He was born on Nov 19, 1923 to immigrant parents Paul and Mary Berke, in Cleveland, OH. He served in Patton's 3rd Army campaigns in France and Germany during World War II. After the war he graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, OH, where he met and married the love of his life, Helen Siropolis, on Jan 31, 1948. In 1972, they moved to Glasgow, KY, where he was the Plant Manager of the Eaton Plant and an active and faithful member of St Andrews Episcopal Church. He is survived by a daughter, Paula Lynne Damron, and her husband, Rep. Robert R. Damron, Nicholasville; son, Eric Wallace Berke, and his wife, Annika, Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Capt. Robert P. Damron, USAF, and his wife, Amarae; Jared Berke, and Laura Berke, and great-grandson, Coltin Ben Damron. Family and friends will be received at Betts & West Funeral Home, Nicholasville, KY, on Fri, Jan 4, 2013, from 8-9am, with funeral services following visitation with Reverend Sewell Woodward officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery after the service. Pall Bearers will be Robert Damron, Capt. Robert P. Damron, Amarae Damron, Jared Berke, Laura Berke, and Rosie Peel.
