ASBURY Thomas Haley, husband of Ann Carson Asbury, died on Sep 29, 2013. Born in Lexington on Oct 22, 1926, he was the son of the late Charles Augustine and Sarah Thomas Haley Asbury. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and was a four year member of the UK tennis team, a UK Tennis Hall of Fame inductee and a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. A partner in Hedgewood Farm that spanned 65 years, first with his father and then with his son, he was a gifted horseman, brought into the horse business at age 15 through the 4-H Club. An avid farmer, a true champion of all animals and a treasured man to all who knew him, Tommy leaves quite the legacy. He was a five-time winner of the Lexington City Men's Singles Tennis Tournament, a current member of the Thoroughbred Club of America, a former member of Idle Hour Country Club, Lexington Country Club, Keeneland Club, Fayette County Farm Bureau, The Rotary Club of Lexington, served on the board of Sayre School, and a life-long attendee of First United Methodist Church. Besides his wife of 61 years, he is survived by his children, Sarah Carolyn Asbury Sanderlin, Thomas Carson Asbury (Barbara) and Judith Macon Asbury, all of Lexington, and four grandchildren, Carolyn Lee Sanderlin, Louisville, Ann Sanderlin Nalley (Logan), Augusta, GA, Sarah Asbury Bishop (Matthew), Auburn, AL, and Thomas Miller Asbury, Lexington. Services 11am Thu at First United Methodist Church. Visitation 4-8pm Wed at Milward-Broadway.
