OWEN Austin B., 78, excelled at being the best dressed, the life of the party and the utmost provider for his family. On December 4, 2012, after leading a life filled with hard work and hard play, he moved on to the big golf course in the sky. Austin was born on his family farm in Gracey, KY in 1934. He graduated from Hopkinsville High School and attended the University of Kentucky. For nearly forty years he worked at Cowden Manufacturing Company, where he served as vice president of sales. He then opened his own business, Austin Apparel, which he ran for seven years. After retirement, Austin built his dream home on the Choctawhatchee Bay in Santa Rosa Beach, FL, where he thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet as well as the local wildlife. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jane Driver Owen, a native of Lexington. Austin was most proud of his two daughters, Tara Owen of Chatham, MA, and Ashlee Owen of Raleigh, NC, and his four grandchildren: Clay (12), Henry (10), Grady (8), and Lucy (8). Austin had a passion for restoring anything he could get his hands on, from old golf clubs to antique pedal cars. He would want you to raise your glass, take in that afternoon tee time and enjoy life! Cheers to you, Austin ... we will always love and miss you!
