Theodore Edmonds Obituary

JACKSON - Theodore Edmonds Sr., 92, died Thurs., Jan. 31, 2005, at the Kentucky River Valley Medical Center. He resided at Highland in Breathitt County, KY. Ted was a retired merchant, owning and operating his own business for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Christine Anderson Edmonds. They were wed for 64 years. Two sons survive: Theodore Edmonds Jr. and wife Jenny; Gordon Edmonds and wife, Connie. Three grandchildren- Alan, Craig, and Christina. Three great-grandchildren- Samuel, Allison, and Madison. Theo was involved in his church and community. He was a member of the Guerrant Memorial Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. He served nine years in the US Army where he was a drill sergeant and tank instructor at Fort Knox during WWII. Ted was born in Scottsboro, AL, Aug. 25, 1913. He met his future wife where she worked at the Federal Housing Administrative in Louisville. Dad loved KY and made it his lifelong home after his discharge from the army. He spent his life being a good friend, neighbor, husband and father. We were blessed by his life, his outlook, his humor and wit. His faith was always God first, family and country. He has now slipped into eternity to recoup the rewards God promises His people. He will be missed and remembered by all those lives he touched. Services will be 1 pm, today at the Watts Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery.

Christmas, 2013, has come & gone. Put up the Christmas lights Mom & Dad so enjoyed. 7 years now since Dad's passing. Still think of him practically daily. Hear myself asking "would Dad approve of how I'm doing this", would this job make him proud, or laugh? Thought of him today on the lake fishin' for crappie..he so loved to be on the water.

Yesterday was Dad's 93rd birthday. Spent the day taking care of his chores, mowing the fields of his farm on his little tractor he enjoyed so much. Still see him working the farm, garden, mowing his lawn, doing the things he so enjoyed. Miss you & love you.

Dad slipped quietly into eternity yesterday. He lived a long, good, and full life. He was one of those everyday heroes, doing for his family, his community, his friends. A young Alabama man who found his life's love in a young mountain girl, he will always be an inspiration to his family & friends.
