Charles Gibson Obituary
STAMPING GROUND - Charles Morgan "Hoot" Gibson, 75, life long farmer, and husband of Kathy Lynn Carter Gibson for 28 years, passed away April 2, 2014 of a tractor accident. He was born March 28, 1939 in Scott County to the late Charles F. and Lucille H. Morgan Gibson. He was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church. He attended Garth School in Scott County for 12 years, where he was four year letterman and honorable mention all-state selection in football. He also played basketball and ran track. He enrolled at Georgetown College in 1957, where he never missed a game as four-year starter in football. He served on the student counsel and was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. After graduating in 1962 he was the head football coach at Carrollton High School. From 1967 to 1995, he served in numerous roles at Scott County High School, including head girls basketball coach, baseball coach, assistant football coach, dean of students, and co-athletic director. Since his retirement from the school district in 1995, he remained an active supporter of Georgetown College football. In 2009, he was named to the Georgetown College Athletics Hall of Fame. Along with his wife he is survived by Brother, Bradford and Sister-in-law, Helen of Georgetown Kentucky; Sister, Glenda and Brother-in-law, Jerome Orth of Marietta, GA; Niece Gina (Tim) Robinson of Lexington, KY; Great Nephew Cameron and Great Niece Trinity; Nephew Allen (Paula) Gibson of Louisville, KY; Great Nephew Chase, Niece, Heather Castle (Chad); Great Niece Sadie Jane of Woodstock, GA; Nephew, Dustin Orth (Sara) of Chattanooga, TN; Brother-in-law, Donald D. Carter (Debbie) of Bryan, TX; Niece, Beckie Carter of Houston, TX; Great Niece Taylor Files of Houston, TX; Niece Jennifer Carter Sealy (Jack), Great Nieces, Casey and Jordin, and Great Nephew, Jackson all of Kalispel, MT; a host of "adopted" sons and daughters, and extended family and friends. Funeral services are 1pm Monday April 7, 2014 at Georgetown Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Redditt and Rev. Richard Weekley officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery with pallbearers being Allen Gibson, Dustin Orth, Chase Gibson, Tim Robinson, Cameron Robinson, and Henry Ford. Honorary bearers will be Bennett Gatto, Clay Brown, Cody Williams, Cody Parker, Alex Stewart, Bo Goebel, Logan Osborne, Blake Naylor, Alex Kreimer, Jake Connor, Kyle Anderson, Adam Sandifer and Georgetown College Tiger Football Players. Visiting hours will be 2-5pm Sunday at Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Georgetown College Tiger Football Program, 400 East College Street, Georgetown, Kentucky Georgetown Baptist Church, 207 South Hamilton Street, Georgetown, Kentucky 40324.
