Joseph Lane Jr. Obituary
LANE Joseph, Jr., 91, of Lexington, went to Heaven on Tue, April 22, 2014 at the VA Hospital. Joe was born in Mooresville, IN, October 4, 1922 to the late Joe and Ana Lane. He was a World War II veteran and an Iwo Jima survivor. He was a member of South Elkhorn Christian Church, VFW, Marine Corps League, 4th Marine Division, 1st Marine Division, and the Marine Food Service Association. He retired from the Indianapolis Star Newspaper, and Lee County Board of Education, Cape Coral, FL. He is survived by his wife, Ann Dowd Lane; three sons, Terry (Laura) Lane, Danny (Norma) Lane and Randy (Connie) Lane; seven grandchildren; twenty-one great- grandchildren; one sister, Helen Lane Miller; two step-daughters, Carol (Ernie) Johnson and Robin (Charlie) Gregory; and seven step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Alexis; five siblings; and his first wife, Carrie Lane. A memorial service will be held 11am Sat, April 26th at South Elkhorn Christian Church by Dr. Mickey Anders with burial at Camp Nelson Cemetery on Monday. Memorials in lieu of flowers to USA Cares, 116 Sunningdale Drive, Georgetown, KY 40324. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. in charge of arrangements.
