Obituary Condolences

BLAND Paul W., 81, husband of Ida Jo Hayden Bland, passed away Sun, Aug. 31, 2014 at his home. Born in Lebanon, KY, he was a son of the late Paul and Clara Mattingly Bland. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Paul was a retired department manager at I.B.M. and a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and American Legion Post 8. Besides his wife, survivors include 5 daughters, Mary Pat (Bill Duke) Bland, Clara Bland (Bob) Gasner, Sara Bland (Glen) Brashear, Carolyn Ann Bland, and Margaret Susan (Fred) Henson; three sons, Paul W. (Lois) Bland, Jr, Joseph Hank (Becky Collins) Bland, and Glen Hayden Bland; two sisters, Jeanine (Norris) Brady and Diane (Gene) Young; three brothers, Irvin (Carolyn) Bland, Myrle (Kathleen) Bland and Carroll (Phyllis) Bland; maternal aunt, Cora Thomas; 25 grandchildren, P.J., Lee Louis, Susan, David, Andrew, Wesley, Brian, Ben, Natesha, Mary Jo, Mason, Elizabeth, Quinton, Evan, Brad, Emily, Lindsey, Kenny, Korey, Brailani, Justin, Stephen, Lauren, Hayden, and Jordan; and 17 great grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by two brothers, Ben and Ernie Bland. Funeral mass will be held at 10 am Thu, Sept 4, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church by the Rev. John List with burial following in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5 8 pm Wed at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504 or the Tesha Clemons Fund at Chase Bank.
