
DAVIS Joan Phyllis, was the only child of Robert Warren and Alice Adams Davis. She was educated in the Lexington City Schools and graduated with honors from Henry Clay High School. She received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from UK where she graduated cum laude. She taught for 35 years at Glendover and Lansdowne Elementaries. While teaching, she supervised student teachers and served as secretary and treasurer for FCEA. She was recognized as a teacher who made a difference. She did graduate work at Georgetown College and Eastern Kentucky University. She was a member of ADK, an educational honorary, KEA, and NEA. In her retirement years, Joan did private tutoring, and she was the Director of Kids Hope USA mentoring at risk children. Joan was active in her church for more than 60 years. She was the organist, member of the sanctuary choir and ladies ensemble. She was president of the WCG, Sunday School Superintendent, and Director of VBS. Survivors include several cousins. Services of memory will be at First Church of God Wednesday at 1pm. Visitation will be from 11am until service time at the church.
