WINCHESTER - Hilmur L. "Bob" Saffell, 90, widow of Mavis Saffell, died Mon, Jan 28, 2013. Born in Hamilton, OH, he was the son of the late Lee Hilmur and Dale Mabry Saffell. An Army Air Corp veteran of WW II, he served with the 42nd Aviation Squadron as a Navigator. He taught in public schools and taught English at Oxford University in Ohio. He was a Shakespearean actor in New Orleans, and served as owner/operator of Mayhill Press. He attended Immanuel Baptist Church while living in Lexington, and was the oldest member of Grace Baptist Church in Winchester. He is survived by his son, Robert Saffell, Melbourne, FL; step daughter, Gerri Hall, Lexington; grandchildren, Steffanie (Derek) Kolbus, Mandeville, LA, Stacy (Jeff) Smith, Boynton Beach, FL and Jason (Ashley) Saffell, Monterey, CA; great grandchildren, Blake and Nadia Kolbus, Sophia and Kathryn Smith, Adrianna, Naomi and Charlotte Saffell; and companion Betty Hayden, Winchester. Services will be 10:30am Saturday, February 21, 2013 at the Lexington Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at Grace Baptist Church, at 11:30am, conducted by Rev. Pat Finley.
