CARLISLE - Dorothy Jane Vice Watkins, 77, of 444 Cliffway Drive, Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Hospice of the Bluegrass wing of St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Nicholas County to the late Carlton and Edith Vice on May 6, 1935, Mom was a devoted wife of Gerald Watkins for 59 years. Mom was a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church where she belonged to the "Friendly" Sunday School class. Mom worked tirelessly as a housewife and devoted herself to her family where Mom supported several children's organizations. Mom especially enjoyed all the friends who visited and played games throughout the years. Mom is survived by two sons, Kevin G. (Susanne) Watkins, Russell Springs and Brian K. (Anessia) Watkins, Carlisle; three grandchildren, Shelby, Grace and Bryce Watkins; a brother, W.C. (Betty) Vice, Lexington; two sisters, Helen (John) Bray, Lawrenceburg and Betty (Ronnie) Ratliff, Lexington; and several nieces and nephews. Mom was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Elizabeth, and two sisters, Louise Reister and Frances Hardwick. Services will be at 1pm Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church by Rev. Rocky and Denise Wallace, and James Gaunce. Burial in the Carlisle Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Carl Vice, Jerry Abnee, Greg McDonald, Danny Ratliff, Travis and Dexter Sims, Todd Gaunce and Wayne Orschelin. Honorary bearers will be members of the Friendly Sunday School Class and Darrin Green. Visitation will be after 5pm today at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Carlisle-Clark Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
