NICHOLASVILLE - Raymond R. Combs, 99, of Nicholasville and Berea, passed away on December 26. He was born in Pebworth, Kentucky on October 7, 1914 and moved to Nicholasville at the age of 9. Ray was a graduate of Nicholasville High School, the University of Kentucky, a US Navy veteran and was a federal government employee. He was the widower of Virginia Nickell Combs who died in 2011. Survivors include daughter Raynelle Sarmiento, son David Combs, grandchildren Kelli Ramey and Kyle Combs, and sister Betti Erny who thoughtfully cared for him over his last years. Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery on Jan 9, 2014, at 12:30pm. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to assist Mr. Combs' family with arrangements.
