WINCHESTER - Alvan D. Graham, Sr., 88, widower of Rosa Lee Graham, passed away on Feb 20, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. Mr. Graham was born in Wolfe County, KY, on Jan 4, 1926, to the late George and Josie Graham. Alvan was a member of Calvary Christian Church and the former owner of Grahams L.R. Hopkins Store, currently Grahams Boots, Work and Western Wear. He was a lifetime farmer, Kentucky Colonel, a master conservationist and always looked forward to his annual community BBQ held on his property for family and friends. He was a resident of Clark County for over 55 years and a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr. Graham is survived by his son, Drew (Lorra) Graham; 4 grandchildren, Tiffany (Patrick) Messer, Tabitha Graham, Bethany Graham and Drew Graham; 1 great-grandson, Elliott Messer; 1 brother, Tom Graham; 3 sisters, Ruby Link-ous, Ruth Cross and Elsie Miller; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be conducted at 1pm Saturday, Feb 22, 2014 at Calvary Christian Church by Pastor Patrick Messer, Pastor Jimmy Clark and Ron Lewis. Burial will be in the Graham's Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Graham, John Graham, Greg Redmon, Tim Redmon, David Wills, Brian Thomas, Rob Whiteley, Ron Lewis and Don Pearson. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Bill Swope, Arnold Jewitt, Oscar Gamble, Teddy Marcum and Vernon Watts. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, Feb 21 at Calvary Christian Church. Memorial contributions in honor of Alvan may be made to Clark County 4H Club, 1400 Fortune Dr., Winchester, KY 40391 and/or the Clark County FFA Chapter, 2745 Boonesboro Rd., Winchester, KY 40391.
