CARLISLE- Janette Hughes Ritchie, 75, widow of Paul Ritchie, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home. Born July 12, 1938 in Mason County, Janette was a retired bus driver for Nicholas County Schools, a former employee of the Nicholas County Hospital and member of the Ruddles Mill United Methodist Church. She is survived by 2 sons: James Clay Tincher and Patrick Paul (Susan) Ritchie, of Carlisle; 2 daughters: Lisa Tincher (Ron) McClain, of Mt. Sterling, and Linda Tincher (Tony) Fryman, of Carlisle; 3 step-children: Debbie Ritchie and John Paul (Diane) Ritchie, of Carlisle, and Beverly (Doris, Jr.) Waters, of Paris; 1 brother: Kenny (Louise) Hughes, of Sardis; 2 sisters: Betty Florer, of Georgetown, and Helen Evans, of Carlisle; 2 step-brothers: Jerry (Helen) Stewart and Ronnie (Bessie) Stewart; 2 step-sisters: Peggy (Billy) Rose and Mary "Toots" (Bill) Wheaton; 16 grandchildren: Janet (Travis) Baldwin, Becky (Andy) Spargo, Tony Lee (Becky) Fryman, Jr., Tabitha (Sam) Reid, David (Deanne) Tincher, Judy (Michael) Campbell, Paul Ritchie, Taylor Ritchie, Paula Auxier, Chrisa Auxier, Jennifer Ball, Brittany Ritchie, Stevie Gray, Michael Waters, Holly Waters and Shawn Fugate; 10 great-grandchildren: Hagan and Gavin Fryman, Maddox and Finley Reid, Alexis Ockerman, Talen Spargo, Tyler Warren, Michael Tincher, James Tincher and Shelby Campbell, as well as several step-great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were her son, Jeffrey Tincher, her father, Jesse Hughes, her mother, Ruby Purcell Hughes Stewart, her step-father, Elmo Stewart, and a grandson, Scotty Fugate. Services will be 12pm Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith and Rev. John Smith. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery. Casketbearers: Benny Buckler, Sr., Kenny Day, Stevie Gray, Matt Hughes, Greg Reid and Bubba Sidles. Honorary bearers; Tommie Bowles, Karen Day, Nancy Fryman, Elaine Hardwick, JoAnn Mitchell and Robin Wright. Visitation after 5pm Sunday at the church.
