Dear Rhonda and Logan; Logan and Sarah; and Logan, Baylor, and Elise,
What a deep and horrible loss your family has experienced in the loss of your dear son, brother, and uncle, Nick! It has to be almost unbearable. Nick was a creative, loving, kind, gracious, caring, handsome, good-to-the-core, talented, artistic, thoughtful, self-deprecating, and family-centered young man. He was a rare gem. His artistic expression via his photographs reflected so much of who Nick was; his short essays about his photographs were insightful not only into the photograph but also into the creative workings of Nick's mind. I loved seeing and commenting back and forth occasionally with Nick about the pictures he posted on Facebook. He drew me in not only with the pictures, but also the captions. He packed a lot of life into 37 years; each of us who knew him is a better person, for sure, but his life was way too short -- he had a lot more to give to the world, to his community, to his family, and to all who knew him and loved him. Our prayers and thoughts will be with you in the days, weeks, and months ahead. May God give you the strength to get through each day.
In love and with prayers,

Dear Rhonda and Logan, Logan and Sarah, and Logan, Baylor, and Elise, What a horrible loss you have experienced; I have no idea how much hurt each of you must feel. Nick was a loving, caring, humble, gracious, self deprecating, loyal-to-family, talented, artistic, handsome, down-to-earth, and good-to-the-core young man! I enjoyed his photography on Facebook and sometimes interacted with him about a photo he had taken. I especially liked the stories he wrote to bring the viewer into the setting and see the picture through his (Nick's) perspective. He had a rare and wonderful artistic take on life. He was a rare gem, for sure. He reminded me so much of his Uncle Paul, not only in his physical looks abut also in how he viewed the world. He also thought the world of his Uncle Paul and his words when he spoke at Paul's funeral reflected his deep love and devotion for Paul. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and will continue to be in the days, weeks, and months ahead.Nick crammed a lot into 37 years; he was a good young man gone decades too soon. He had so much to give to the world, to the people around him, to his family, to all those he loved. Our best to all of you. Sedahlia, Ike, Kirsten, and Brandon Crase (related to Nick's Uncle Paul Weiler and Aunt Kathy Jasper Weiler), Ames, Iowa
