Donna M. Horak, age 87 of Kewaunee died Thursday, October 25, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born October 1, 1925 in Algoma to the late Albert and Libby (Novak) Magle.
In Donna's earlier years she worked at Wheeler's Restaurant where she met her future husband. She married Stanley (Sam) Horak on January 21, 1946 at St. Mary's Church in Algoma. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1987. Donna later worked at the Kewaunee County Jail as a matron when her brother-in-law: Joseph Horak was the sheriff.
She was a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters and the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Post 3392. Donna was known for her good baking, cooking and spending hours decorating her icicle Christmas Tree. She was devoted to her family, she loved spending time with her nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren baking cookies and singing together. She enjoyed fishing, her trips around the United States and the Islands and her road trips to the casino.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law: Stanley Jr. And Patricia Horak, Sturgeon Bay; Gary Horak, Kewaunee; two daughters and sons-in-law: Sandy and Larry Aerts, Denmark; Mary and Joy Wessely, Menominee, MI.
Funeral service was held Monday, October 29. Burial was in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
