Jay Mario Palazzo Obituary
Palazzo, Jay Mario

Jay Mario Palazzo, 45, Algoma, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. He was born on May 4, 1968 in Algoma, Wisconsin to Harry Myles Palazzo and Carol Mae (Koss) Palazzo. Jay was the youngest of 6 siblings.

Jay graduated from Saint Mary School, Algoma High School, and NWTC with an Associates Degree in Business. His professional employment began as business manager for a psychological associates firm in Green Bay, followed by many years as a benefits analyst at Humana Insurance, also in Green Bay. Jay then pursued one of his favorite interests, floral design, when he and his wife, Jody, opened and operated Mill Street Floral in Algoma for several years. His creativity and floral arts skills were recognized in his WUMFA (Wisconsin-Upper Michigan Floral Association) Awards received, and further appreciated in his work at Steele Street Floral in Algoma. Additionally, Jay had obtained his CNA Certification and had worked at both Brown County in Green Bay and ALTCU in Algoma.

On August 26, 1995, Jay was united in marriage to Jody Marlene Schaumann at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Algoma, Wisconsin. They have resided in Algoma for many years and have worked hard on maintaining their beautiful garden beds and Koi pond in their yard. As a Certified Master Gardener, Jay was very knowledgeable about gardening and also enjoyed teaching others about plants and flowers. He greatly enjoyed traveling, and fishing and camping with family and friends in northern Wisconsin, as well as time spent with his many beloved pets.

Jay especially loved to celebrate the Holidays, his favorite: Halloween, with Algoma's Shanty Days Celebration and Christmas, a close second. He was known for his elaborate Halloween costumes, and their home was always beautifully decorated for each Holiday. Another great interest of his was his music. Jay was very proficient with many instruments, the violin, organ, and saxophone among his favorites to play. Additionally, he also enjoyed cooking and baking, and sharing his culinary talents. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Jay was a born storyteller, an entertainer, and always had a flair for the dramatic! Aside from his many other talents, he will be remembered for his quick wit, his comedic stylings, and his many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jody; his mother, Carol Palazzo; brothers and sisters: Lynn (Cletus) Conard, Kimberly-Ann Palazzo and husband, Randolf Warnke, Vince Palazzo, Kent (Lorna) Palazzo, and Philip (Kristine) Palazzo; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Robert and Carma Schaumann; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Robyn (Doug) Hillmann, Shelly Schaumann, and Stewart Schaumann; aunts, uncles; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; great-nieces and great-nephews; several god-children; and many, many good friends.
