Richard H. Hanamann, 77, Algoma, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 unexpectedly at home. He was born December 3, 1935 in the Town of Pierce to Herman and Irene (Luedtke) Hanamann.
Richard graduated from Alaska Grade School and Kewaunee High School in 1953. Richard entered the US Army on May 7, 1956. On December 19, 1956 in Algoma Richard married Carole Dopke. After his marriage he went back to serve in the US Army until his discharge on May 6, 1958. Richard came back to Algoma and worked at Marchant Foods in Brussels as a meat cutter for 33 years. Then Richard worked at Wisconsin Label until retirement.
Richard was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and served a Captain of the Usher team and also on the council at one time for the church. Richard was an avid Pheasant and turkey hunter and enjoyed the time he spent with his sons fishing at Eagle River and in Canada, and daily walks with his dog Ben.
Richard is survived by his wife Carole, two sons Jay (Brenda) Hanamann, Cedarburg; and Keith (fiancée Bonnie) Hanamann, Green Bay; three grandchildren Jessica (Steve) Miller, Jordan Hanamann and Krista Hanamann, one sister Joyce (Harold) Malvitz, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Irene Hanamann and his in-laws Wallace and Grace Dopke.
Friends may call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma, from 8:30 am Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 until the time of services at 11 am with Rev. John Moll officiating. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma.
