Anderson, Ollie Ophelia* - Kinston
KINSTON | Ollie Ophelia Anderson, daughter of the late Roger W. Anderson and Ollie Anderson Stevenson, began her journey in Kinston on August 20, 1927. Attending public schools, she graduated from Adkin High School and furthered her education in nursing in Washington, D.C. ""Pheia"" as we so often called her, loved to sing, play the piano, cook and take care of others. Choosing to work in health care, Pheia worked for many years at the Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville. Upon retirement, she later taught health care classes for Lenoir Community College at Frink Middle School in La Grange. As a faithful servant, Ollie gave her time, talent and gifts as a member of Grove Park Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Ollie leaves precious memories to one son, Walter D. Anderson (Carolyn) of Kinston; sister, Alberta S. Fleming of Kinston; brother, John A. Stevenson (Joyce) of New Bern; grandchildren, Quinton R. Anderson (Christina) of Charlotte, Dawn T. Anderson and Ivy R. Anderson, of New York; great-grandchildren, Demonte Anderson, DeVonua Anderson and Damar Anderson, of Charlotte; caring nieces and nephews, cousins, church family, friends and students. Ollie O. Anderson transitioned from this life on January 21, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center of Goldsboro. A graveside service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park at noon on Saturday, January, 24, 2015. Services are entrusted to Loftin Memorial – J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home, 106 N. East St., Kinston.
