Bain Jr., Harry Franklin* - Calabash  
CALABASH | Harry Franklin Bain Jr., 80, of Calabash,passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Franklin Bain Sr. and Dorothy Robinson Bain. He was one of the owners of Albain Shirt Company. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bland Bain of the home; daughter, Laureen Taylor and husband Chris of Pink Hill; sister, Darlene Worthington and husband William of Kinston; brother, Michael Bain and wife Sue of Kinston; grandchildren, Robert Neal Taylor and Richard Lee Taylor; great-grandchildren, Brady Quinn Taylor, Jasmine Leigh Taylor and Reagan Marie Taylor; as well as several nieces and nephews. Barwick, Tom* - La Grange  
LA GRANGE | Thomas Wilson "Tom" Barwick, 72, of the Buckesberry Community, peacefully passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Tom was born January 30, 1942, in Lenoir County to the late Wilson Earl Barwick and Lena Hill Barwick. A lifelong farmer, Tom enjoyed the outdoors whether working on the farm or tending to the garden. Tom was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. A favorite time of the year for Tom would be when the weather began to cool and the leaves began to fall. This time of the year marked the beginning of college basketball season and the opportunity to follow his beloved Duke Blue Devils. He enjoyed cooking outside and family gatherings. A hard working man, Tom believed in being honest and speaking what he thought. He was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. A service of remembrance will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014, from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Flynn officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from Pinelawn Memorial Park. Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Angela Parker Barwick; three sons, Michael Barwick, David Barwick and wife, Ginger and Kevin Barwick and wife, Tammy; six grandchildren, Chelsea Mondal and husband, Moe, Kellie Jacobs and husband, Charles, Robbie Harris, Cameron Barwick, Christian Barwick and Jared Barwick; five great-grandchildren, Farrah Mondal, Julieanne Mondal, Kayleigh Jacobs, Adriana Jacobs and Clara Jacobs; sister, Joyce Tilghman and husband, Bill; and a brother, Ronnie Barwick and wife, Patsy. Bowen, Russell Chesson* - Kannapolis  
KANNAPOLIS | Russell Chesson Bowen, 78, of Kannapolis, N.C., died at his residence on Friday, November 21, 2014. A native of Martin County, N.C., Russell was born March 23, 1936, in Bear Grass, N.C., a son of the late Grover and Lillie Chesson Bowen. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Carolina Telephone & Telegraph as division construction foreman in Kinston, N.C., where he and his wife raised their family. Russell was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He attended Lenoir Community College and East Carolina University. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years and earned the Silver Beaver Award. Russell was a member of Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis, N.C. In addition to his parents Mr. Bowen was preceded in death by his brothers, Danny and Monk. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Myrtle Ann Nicholson Bowen of Kannapolis, N.C.; son, Russell Nicholson (Nick) Bowen of Faith, N.C.; daughter, Peggy LouAnn Lester and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Grace Ann, Bowen and Kristal Lester all of Bunn, N.C. A service to celebrate Russell's life will be held Monday, November 24, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, Kannapolis, N.C., with the family receiving friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. A graveside committal will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Williamston, N.C., on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Charity of the Donor's choice.
