GREENSBORO | Jemel Edwards, 36, formerly of Snow Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at Duke University Hospital. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Maury Chapel FWB Church. Interment will follow in the St. James AME Zion Cemetery. Survivors include his parents, Malinda Miller Lucas and James Lucas, of Wilson and Johnnie Mack Edwards of Snow Hill; daughter Jamiah Edwards of Orangeburg, S.C.; brothers Marice Edwards of Raleigh, Travis Lucas of Rocky Mount, Lamonte Rouse of Cary and Derick Speight of Greenville; sisters Kyre Ward Osei of Jacksonville, Rogina Thompson of Concord and Candace Lucas and Ashley Lucas, both of Wilson. A wake will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by S. Connor Memorial Funeral Home, Snow Hill.

GRIFTON | Nannie R. Farrow, 72 of 3717 Edgewood Park Road, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at home. The funeral will be held at noon on Friday, Dec. 19, at Jumping Run Church. Entombment will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband, William ""Bill"" Farrow of the home; son William Kyel Farrow of Durham; daughter Kathy Farrow-Grace of Carey; brothers Marvin Rose, Willie Rose and Jesse Rose, all of Oxford; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Swinson Funeral Service.

TRENTON | Harold Bryan Hargett, 88, of Trenton, passed away on Tuesday December 9, 2014. He is survived by his son, Harold Bryan Hargett III; four daughters, Sylvia Ann Thibaut of Chapel Hill, Betty Jo Hargett of Wilmington, Lissa Marie Hargett of Trenton, and Margaret Kay Hargett of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Knoll Sr., Joseph Thomas* - Kinston  
KINSTON | Joseph Thomas Kroll Sr., 93, of Kinston, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Mr. Kroll was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Adeane Alphin Kroll and daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Kroll Sutton. Survivors include his daughter, Anna K. Gibson Harper; sons, Bill Kroll and Joseph T. Kroll Jr.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Patty, Paige C.* - Snow Hill  
SNOW HILL | Mr. Paige Carter Patty, 60, went to be with Jesus Sunday morning December 14, 2014, after a heroic battle with cancer. Born April 7, 1954, Paige was the son of James C. and Patricia Wilkins Patty. Following graduation from the University of Miami, he worked with the Everglades National Park studying crocodiles before obtaining his General Contractor's License. In 1993, Paige moved to Greene County and it became his ""home"" and a place he deeply loved. A talented carpenter, construction not only continued as his vocation with Ashland Construction where he was a Superintendent, but also as a passion as he and his family restored the 1800's home in which he resided. Paige had a strong faith in Jesus and was an active member of Grace Fellowship Church in Kinston. He loved worshiping God with his whole heart and he did it both on the stage as a member of the Worship Team and behind the scenes as well. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Warren Patty of the home; daughter, Rachel Patty and fiancé Colin Sherwood, of Chapel Hill; sons, Jason Patty and wife Holly, of Kathmandu, Nepal, and Matthew Patty and wife Hilary, of Winterville; grandchildren, Emma Patty and Jason Patty Jr.; and a sister, Sandra Rzezutko and husband Rod, of Knoxville, Tenn. A service to celebrate Paige's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 20, at Grace Fellowship Church in Kinston with Jason McKnight officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. ATLANTA, Ga., formerly of KINSTON, NC | Karen LaNell Pearce, 44, of Atlanta, Ga. went to be with her Lord on December, 6, 2014. Karen spent most of her earlier life in Kinston and eastern North Carolina. She had worked as a Hair Stylist in Kinston, Greenville and Chapel Hill, NC before moving to Atlanta, Ga. She was presently working at True Beauty Salon and Spa in Atlanta, Ga. She had started taking nursing classes because she wanted to help others. Survivors include her parents Nell Sugg Pearce and Larry Moore Pearce, brother Kevin Brian Pearce and wife Helena of Durham; nieces Halle and Noelle Pearce of Durham; Uncle Jake Sugg and wife Kathel of Apex; cousins Kim, Cindy and Lewis and many, many special friends. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church on the corner of U.S. 70 West and Banks School Road, Kinston, with Pastor Vito Bisogno officiating.
