Brigman, Elvin* - Cary  
November, 4, 1930 – May 22, 2015 CARY | Elvin (Sammy) Brigman, died peacefully Friday, May 22, 2015 at his daughter's home. He is predeceased by his wife Edna (Sutton) Brigman. Mr. Brigman is survived by his daughter Donna Castro, granddaughter Kaitlyn Castro and step-grandchildren Miguel and Isa Castro. Francisco Castro, Sammy's son-in-law, cared for and loved him until the end. Mr. Brigman is also survived by his sister Josie Sandlin, favorite cousin Grace Sutton (both of Kinston) and special friends Pepe' Flores and Sam and others at Bojangles of Cary. Sammy will be missed by those who loved him. They are comforted knowing he is at peace and is reunited with his loved ones. A memorial service will be held at Wooten's Chapel, 9825 Saul's Rd, Raleigh, on Sunday, May 24 at 3:00 pm. Arrangements are by Brown – Wynn Funeral Home. Sign the guest book at Kinston.com.

LA GRANGE | Tyrone Maye, 44, of 122 Sam's Lane, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at Hull Road Free Will Baptist Church in Kinston. Burial will follow at Old Mill Cemetery, Goldsboro. Survivors include his mother, Clara Davis of the home; daughter Tylisha Maye of La Grange; son Breyon Starkey of Goldsboro; brothers Rakeem Davis and Monte Exum of La Grange, Tyshon Mervilus of Georgia, and Sherrod Britt of Elizabeth, N.J; sisters Claretta Maye and Antwanette Fletcher of Elizabeth N.J., Kim Davis of Goldsboro, Tysheema Davis of La Grange; and grandmother, Mae Bell Jackson of La Grange. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Swinson Funeral Service.

RALEIGH | Deaconess Martha Lee McAffity, a woman of God with a magnificent faith transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Martha was 83 years old. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Willie McAffity Jr.; three children, Curtis (Kendra) of Raleigh, Joan Cummings and Lisa M. Norman, John S.* - La Grange  
LA GRANGE | John Samuel Norman, 82, of La Grange, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. John was born August 18, 1932, in Edgecombe County to the late Irby and Nannie Eastwood Norman. He proudly served his country 25 years in the United States Army retiring with the rank of 1st Sergeant. John served two tours in Vietnam and among the many medals he was awarded were the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Following his retirement from the military, he worked at Dobbs School where he retired as Security Chief. Feeling a call to serve his Lord, John graduated from Duke Divinity School and pastored Edwards Chapel United Methodist Church for a number of years. John had a deep passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was most happy when out on his boat. Nothing was more pleasing than the tug of a fish on the line, no matter the size. A service to celebrate and honor John's life will be held at noon Saturday, May 23, 2015, from Rouse Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery. John is survived by his wife of almost 26 years, Hazel Wiggins Norman; three children, Michael Moye and wife Debbie, Ronnie Moye and wife Linda and Beth Holland; one grandson, Shawn Moye; four granddaughters, Bethany Bridwell, Kristy Moye, Stephanie Sullivan and Kimberly Smith; two great-granddaughters, Ashlyn Pridgen and Brianna Moye; two great-grandsons, Christian Quick and Eli Smith; one great-great-grandson, Blayden Pridgen; one great-great-granddaughter, Hazlee Pridgen; sister, Brenda Radford; along with a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11 p.m.-noon Saturday at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home. Online condolences may be expressed at rousefh.com .
