Kennedy, Timothy* - KINSTON  
KINSTON | Timothy "Tim" Kennedy, 56, of Kinston passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at his home. He was a manager for Piggly Wiggly at the Kinston Plaza store. He was preceded in death by his parents William Kennedy and Alice Jernigan Kennedy; and father-in-law Clarence Potter. Tim was an avid fisherman who loved the beach and loved to grill out. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend to all.  Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Fletcher officiating. Visitation will follow the service. A private burial will take place at a later date. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Potter Kennedy; son Jordan Kennedy and friend Kim Hoang of Greenville;  mother-in-law Ann Potter of Kinston; sister Brenda Hill and husband Glenn of Kinston; brother Billy Kennedy and wife Marlene of Snow Hill; several nieces and nephews, and a lot of friends that loved him dearly. AYDEN | John Thelbert "Hub" McCotter, 86, of 4331 New St., died Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Ayden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. KINSTON | Clarence "Bro" Edward Whitfield, 71, of Kinston passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Whitfield and Alice Harper Whitfield; sisters in-law Linda S. Whitfield, Jeanette Hardee, Helen Hoell; brothers in-law Bud Hinson, William Hinson, Grover Hinson; and a nephew Scott Whitfield. Clarence Whitfield was a Past Master at the Richard Caswell Masonic Lodge in Kinston, and a member of Lenoir County Shrine Club, a Past Captain of the Sudan Motor Patrol, a member of the Sudan Temple in New Bern. He was also the owner and operator of Neuse Appliance Parts of Kinston. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 pm Monday, April 18, 2016 at Garner Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Mondell officiating and visitation to follow. Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Frances Hinson Whitfield; sons, David Whitfield and wife Bonnie of LaGrange, Lee Minton and wife Lisa of Kinston, Lin Johnson and wife Glenda also of Kinston; brothers, James Whitfield and wife Mary Ann of Beaufort, Ralph "Lonnie" Whitfield of Snow Hill; three grandchildren, Waylon Minton, David Whitfield Jr., Skyler Whitfield; two great grandchildren; sister in-law Ann Dail and husband Ray of Snow Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews. ATLANTIC BEACH | Jane Lancaster Briley, 68, of Atlantic Beach, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Carteret Health Care. A celebration of life service will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Country Club of the Crystal Coast at Pine Knoll Shores. Jane grew up in Kinston and graduated from Grainger High School. She also worked many years at Wachovia Bank, and retired to her dream place at the beach. Jane enjoyed cross-stitching and would make many things for her friends and relatives. She is survived by her husband of the home, Eddie Briley; daughter, Ashley Fox and husband Chris; son Ray Burroughs; brother Gordon Lancaster and wife Sharron; brother in-law, Brantley Briley and wife Eugenia; grandchildren, Noah and Jacks Fox, and Morgan Burroughs; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved chocolate lab, Tucker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bishop Cleveland and Virginia Lancaster; and brother, Larry Lancaster. The family would also like to thank some very special friends, Janet and Marshall Roberts; Jane and Everet Cameron; Sandy and Bob Stiehl; and Annette Faulker.
