Amanda Lawrence-Lane

NEW BERN - Amanda Taylor Lawrence Lane, 33, of New Bern, passed away Friday March 22, 2013. Amanda was born March 18, 1980, in Lenoir County to Walter Thomas Taylor and Debra Sparrow Taylor of La Grange. Amanda matured into a warm, unselfish young lady whose smile would light up a room. A straight A student, Amanda graduated from North Lenoir High School and then East Carolina University with a Masters Degree in Math Education. Amanda was employed with Craven County Public Schools where she taught math at Havelock High School. Affectionately known as "Mama" to her stepson Alex, Amanda cherished family time together at the beach and boating. Family, friends and students alike were the centerpiece of her life. She was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church and presently attended Jerusalem United Methodist Church. A service of remembrance will be held Friday, March 29, 2013 at 2 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Sullivan and the Rev. Jan Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. In addition to her parents, Amanda is survived by her husband, Jeremy Dwight Lane; step-son Alexander Michael "Alex" Lane; sister Amy Michelle Taylor of New Bern; brother Brian Thomas Taylor, serving with the United States Navy; paternal grandmother, Phyllis McCoy Taylor Heath of Kinston; nephew Devin Michael Taylor; niece Jazmyn Renee Taylor; and father and mother-in-law, Joey and Donna Arthur of Snow Hill.
