Frances Eloise Howard Smith

KINSTON -- Frances Eloise Howard Smith, 89, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014. She was born in Lenoir County, the daughter of the late William Percy Howard and Mary Ellen Turner Howard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Tom Smith; son Gene Smith; sisters Dora Mae Thomas and Mabel Waller; and brothers, Elwood Howard and Vernon Howard. Mrs. Frances was a devoted farmer's wife, homemaker and a member of Smith's New Home OFWB Church. She was always very proud of her boys and told you so. Survivors include her son, Doug Smith and wife Ginny, of Kinston; daughter-in-law, Martha Smith of Kinston; grandchildren, Derek Smith and Darren Smith, both of Kinston, and Brian Smith and wife Rebecca, of Smithfield; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Smith, Hannah Smith, Chandler Smith and Brice Smith; and a very special nephew and caregiver, Gary Thomas of the home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Smith's New Home OFWB Church with the Reverend Michael Bryan and Pastor Darren Smith officiating. Visitation will be held following the service and other times at the home of Doug and Ginny Smith. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
