Harry L. "Sambo" Malpass

PINK HILL - Harry L. "Sambo" Malpass, 76, of Quinn Sawmill Road went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at his home. He was a glass mechanic with Oliver Glass for many years; he also enjoyed farming and raising his cows. Sambo was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Turning Point Assembly in Pink Hill with the Rev. Gene Turner, Rev. Wayne Pittman, Rev. Milton Hill and Rev. Proctor Marshall presiding. Visitation will be held following the funeral service. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Ann Carter Malpass; son Sammy Malpass and wife Tara; daughters Angela Malpass Tyndall and Tammy Malpass Pike and husband Scotty, all of Pink Hill; brothers Sherman Malpass Jr. and Therman Malpass of Kinston; sisters Stella Malpass and Margaret Stroud of Pink Hill; brothers-in-law Clinton Stroud and Ashley "Shine" Stroud of Pink Hill; five grandchildren, Fuller Tyndall, Tana Jo Tyndall, Gabi Malpass, Gena Malpass and Sam Scott Pike.
