James Emmett Watson

PINK HILL - James Emmett Watson, 86, of Pink Hill, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston. Born in New York City on July 19, 1928, he was the son of the late James and Louise Watson. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, brother John L. Watson, and sister Mary Louise Newberry. Emmett served his Country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also was a Silver Beaver Recipient with the Boy Scouts of America where he served as an adult volunteer leader for over 50 years in the Kinston area. Survivors include his son, James Randall Watson and wife Cecilia C. Watson, of Charlotte; sister Alice Watson-Dailey of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; grandchildren, Trevor Parks Watson and wife Jessica Croom Watson, of Salisbury, Trent Randall Watson of Raleigh; and great-grandchild, William Parks Watson. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Grider officiating. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, East Carolina Council, PO Box 1698, Kinston, NC 28503 or Pink Hill United Methodist Church, 102 W.
