Myrtle Phillips

KINSTON - Grace Phillips, 89 passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014. She was born March 5, 1925, to the late Walter and Rena Coombs Philyaw. Waiting to greet her in heaven are her parents, husband Floyd Phillips, special niece Peggy J. Jones and special friend, Leslie Jenkins, formerly of Trenton. Grace had six sisters and four brothers.

Grace worked with the FBI in Washington, D.C. for a time but retired from DuPont after twenty nine and half years of service. She enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and walking at the mall. She was a member of Comfort Christian Church in Comfort before she moved to Kinston. She attended Tanglewood Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014, from Garner Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Sloan officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Westview Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Betty G. Alphin (Charles) of Kinston; a grandson, Charles R. (Reggie) Alphin Jr. (Jennifer) of Riverside Calif.; a granddaughter, Donna A. Dail (Jason) of Wilmington; four great-grandchildren, Charles R. (Little Reggie) Alphin III, and Valerie D. Alphin, both of Riverside, Calif., Olivia G. Dail and Lucas A. (Luke) Dail, both of Wilmington. She is also survived by one sister, Lena Edith P.
