Norris Whitaker Croom Sr.

KINSTON - Norris Whitaker Croom, Sr. and Viola Grady Croom will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery on May 24, 2013. Mr. Croom, age 91, passed away October 1, 2012. He was born February 8, 1921. Mrs. Croom, age 83, passed away August 9, 2003. She was born February 22, 1919. Both were cremated and will remain forever together on our Nation's most hallowed ground at Arlington, Va. Mr. Croom was an Army Infantry Soldier in World War II and an Air Force Veteran of Vietnam, retiring from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant in 1968. Mrs. Croom was a caring and dedicated military wife and loving mother who provided unconditional love and support to her family throughout her life. Norris and Viola shared 63 years of marriage, were wonderful parents, and will always be lovingly remembered in the hearts of their children, grandchildren, and extended family members. Mr. Croom is survived by two sisters, Grace Dunkley of Chesapeake, Va., and Ann Barnes and her husband Doug, of Kinston, N.C. Mr. and Mrs. Croom are survived by their five children, Forrest W. Croom and his wife Nancy, of Houston, Texas, Norris W. Croom Jr. and his wife Patricia, of Copperas Cove, Texas, Linda Sue Croom of Texarkana, Texas, Joan Carol Freeman of Kinston, N.C., and Donald Gene Croom and his wife Kathy Jo, of Bailey, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Laurie Grotelueschen of Colorado, Darren Croom of Texas, Norris W. Croom III of Colorado, Suzanne Dillon of Texas, Wayne Hammett of Texas, Michelle Balensiefen of Texas, Crystal Coker of Texas, Stephen Skelton of Texas, Michael Macario of Pennsylvania, April Macario of Virginia, Seth Croom of Colorado, and Kelly Croom of Colorado; 20 great-grandchildren, Luke, Seth Micah, Erin and Faith Grotelueschen of Colorado, Forrest , Tanner and Grant Croom of Texas, Norris IV, Carson and Brogan Croom of Colorado, Jordan and Dalton Dillon of Texas, Nicole Coker and Brandon McCary of Texas, Amanda and Shannon Balensiefen of Texas, Treasure and Aaron Skelton of Texas, Aaron Macario of Virginia and Kaiya Croom of Colorado.
