KINSTON - Opal Outlaw Smith, 81, of Kinston, North Carolina passed away peacefully at Harmony Hall Nursing Center on March 26, 2014. Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Nora Kornegay and Edgar Outlaw. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Smith, sister Irene O. Price of Kenansville, N.C., sister Alene O. Torrans of Wilson, N.C., and brothers, Remus J. Outlaw and Eugene R. Outlaw, both of Mount Olive, N.C. Opal is survived by her sister, Joyce O. Tyndall (William E.) of Kinston, N.C. and brother, Rommie A. Outlaw of Mount Olive, N.C. along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families. A resident of Duplin and Lenoir counties her whole life, Opal worked as an insurance sales representative for a number of years plus served as a caregiver for the elderly. She dearly loved her family, especially her many nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted by the Reverend Bob Fussell at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at Garner Funeral Home in Kinston, N.C. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oakridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill, N.C. Online condolences may be sent to garner-funeralhome.com.
