Stanford R. Hill Sr.

KINSTON - Stanford R. Hill Sr. passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, March 28. He was born in Comfort on October 29, 1922. He spent most of his working career managing in the wholesale grocery business in Kinston. His employers included Gray & Oglesby, Piggly Wiggly, Malone & Hyde and Coastal Wholesale. He was known as a great leader and a very compassionate boss to all who had the privilege of working with him. He was a loving and generous husband, father and grandfather. He was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Wheat Swamp Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Constance Millas Hill; one child, Stanford R. Hill Jr.; three grandchildren, Alex Hill, Addison Hill and Olivia Hill; a sister, Alphia Hill of Kinston; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Maplewood Cemetery in Kinston, officiated by the Rev. Vito Bisogno of Trinity United Methodist Church. Edwards Funeral Home of Kinston will be handling the arrangements.
