William Frank "Buddy" King

KINSTON - William "Buddy" Frank King, age 50, of 1670 Parker Fork Road, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2012, at his home. Buddy was a devoted and loving husband, son, father, brother, uncle, and granddaddy. He possessed an endearing personality, and was a friend to everyone he met. Buddy graduated from Kinston High School in 1981. He was a respected salesman with Heilig-Meyers, where he worked for many years and built professional friendships that carried over to his position with East Coast Equipment, where he worked from 2001 until his passing. Buddy was preceded in death by his father, William F. King Jr. He is survived by his wife, Kelley Sutton King of the home; mother Ruby C. King; children Jason King and wife Anna, Meghan King, and Meredith King; stepsons, Matthew Davis, Daniel Davis, and Andrew Davis; grandson Maddox King; sister Sarah Buck and husband John Buck; brothers-in-law Kenny Sutton and wife Teresa, Timmy Sutton and wife Jan; mother and step-father of his children, Donna and Antonio Archuleta ; many special nieces and nephews; and many friends who became beloved family by choice. Buddy thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was the ultimate host to many events held at his home. He was the "king" of the barbeque grill and spent free time sharing his culinary skills with pride and love. Buddy took great pleasure from working in his yard, utilizing the John Deere equipment that he represented so well, mowing grass, and joy-riding tractors. In fact, one of his favorite past-times was sharing tractor rides with his grandson, Maddox. Buddy was an avid sports fan following the events of his children whether participating or coaching as well as the special children of his dear friends. Buddy will long be remembered for the manner in which he embraced life, full of humor, surrounded by family and friends, sharing in whatever moment marked the day. He touched the hearts of the community and left a legacy of love that will brighten the lives of those who knew him for many years to come. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday night at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Gina Barrow officiating. The family will receive friends at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday night prior to the service and other times at the home.
