Gloria Wagner Herring

KINSTON -Gloria Wagner Herring, 75, of Kinston passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013. Gloria was born in Goldsboro on February 8, 1938, to Ethel (Cleo) Thompson Wagner and Elwood Carl Wagner. She was a graduate of Goldsboro High School and Rex Hospital School of Nursing and was retired from DuPont. Gloria was a very caring person who helped others through her career as a registered nurse and through her volunteer work with SAFE in Lenoir County and with the American Red Cross. She was a loving wife of 54 years, mother and grandmother – loved by all and will be missed by many. Survivors include her husband, George B. Herring of the home; son, Michael Carl Herring and wife Susan, of Castle Hayne; daughter, Donna Herring Raynor and husband Dalton, of Ayden; four grandchildren, Alise Herring, Liza Herring, Alex Raynor, and Eric Raynor. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Goldsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster United Methodist Church, 1001 Westminster Lane, Kinston, NC 28501 or to SAFE in Lenoir County, 208 Glenwood Avenue, Kinston, NC 28501.
