KINSTON - Grover Cleveland Hall Jr., 89, son of the late Grover Cleveland Hall and Blanche Triplett, passed away at home on June 24, 2014, surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his wife Marjorie; his two daughters, Susan of Kinston and Stella of Los Angeles, Calif.; his three grandchildren, Mikey Riva of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mitch and Rachel Pope of Kinston. Grover is also survived by his brothers, Cecil and Pete Hall of Kinston. In addition to his parents, Grover was preceded in death by a son, Grover Cleveland Hall III; and five siblings, Harold, Leonard, and Kenneth Hall of Kinston, Thelma Whitfield of Kinston, and Elsie Bullock of Phoenix, Ariz. During World War II, Grover served in the Navy aboard the USS Randolph, earning a Purple Heart for his distinguished and heroic service to his Country. After the war, Grover returned home to Kinston to manage the John Mewborne Farms. He went on to become the Farm Manager for L. Harvey and Sons, a position he held for over forty years. "G.C.," as he was known to family and friends, was a devoted family man who loved nothing more than hunting, fishing, farming, and spending time with his extended family and friends. A private graveside service will be officiated by Dr. Mark Benson of Gordon Street Christian Church.
