WALLACE - Johnnie Daniel ""Skipper"" Davis Jr., 69, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Golden Care Assisted Living in Wallace. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and retired with over 30 years of service as a dispatcher with the City of Kinston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie D. and Vina Thompson Davis Sr.; his brother, Donald Davis; and his nephew, Jeffrey Davis. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014, from the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with Military Honors. The Rev. Ronald Jones will be officiating. Interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park will be held at a later date. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carol Jobes Davis; his daughters, Amy Davis Nethercutt and husband, Daniel of Beulaville, and Holly Davis and fiancé, Richie Lynch of Kinston; his sisters, JoAnne Dixon and Sharon Casner, both of Kinston; several nieces; and a granddaughter, Piper Hayley Davis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 112 N. Patrick St., Goldsboro, NC 27530.
