KINSTON - Wayne Lee Brantley, 64 of 2827 Alison Road, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. He was retired as Director of Recreation Therapy at Caswell Center with 40 years of service. Wayne was a member of First Original Free Will Baptist Church where he was past president of the Laymen's League, Usher and official cook for fundraisers and BBQ chicken. He was retired as a Master Sergeant with 21 years in the N.C. National Guard. Currently he was employed with Cross and Crown Christian Store and had a passion for people with special needs and Special Olympics. Preceding him in death are his parents, Roy Lee and Anna Daniels Brantley. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with the Reverend Terry Coates officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at his home. Interment will follow the service in Westview Cemetery with military honors. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Ellen Cosby Brantley of the home; his son, Wesley Ryan Brantley of the home, and several special nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First OFWB Church (Building Fund) in care of Patsy Swindell, 3297 Falling Creek Road, Kinston, NC 28504.
